Resize to Fit into 1920 x 1200 pixels?

Hi Gus,
I’ve downloaded the trial of Retrobatch to see if it can do a specific task. I’m sure what I want must be possible, but I can’t see how to do it.
I’m the competition secretary at my local camera club and members submit images to me for competitions. They often send full-size images but we project at 1920 pixels x 1200 pixels.
What I need to do is drop a folder of images into Retrobatch and have it resize them to fit into 1920 x 1200.
Examples: a photo with a 3:2 aspect ratio needs to be resized to 1800 x 1200, whereas a photo with a 2:3 aspect ratio needs to be resized to 800 x 1200.
None of the options in ‘Scale’ seem to do this - is it possible?
Thanks
Gareth

I believe this is possible using the Rules node and three different scale nodes. Here’s a little screenshot of what I’ve got:

And here’s the workflow: fit_1920x1200.retrobatch (11.7 KB)

The trick is to use the Rules node to split up landscape and non-landscape (which includes square images), and then scale them a little bit differently than you normally would.

I should add a “max width and height” option to the scale node, where it keeps an aspect ratio. I’ll add that to the list.

I wanted to let you know that there’s a new scaling option coming in the next release of Retrobatch. Here’s the details from the release notes:

  • New scale option of “Max Dimensions” in the Scale node. When used, it will scale down your images proportionally so that it will never exceed the given width or height.

You can grab a copy of it from here: https://flyingmeat.com/download/latest/#retrobatch

If you try it out, let me know how it works for you. It should simplify your workflow quite a bit!
