This one is a bit odd. If you copy an image URL to the clipboard, then in Acorn do “File → New From Clipboard” you get the attached SVG related error message, and when you close it the image from the URL opens correctly. You can reproduce by clicking on the Flying Meat logo in the upper left of this forum, selecting “Copy Image Address”, then use New From Clipboard in Acorn.
When importing an image via ‘new file from clipboard’
I always copy image, not a url, which I think is what you are saying…
surprisingly - Iget the same error message, but when I click okay.. the image opens…
In the end. I didn’t realize you could open an image with an image address… I forget how one copies an image location on your desktop (something like ‘go…’ in finder) but I bet you could do the same…

Question, why aren’t you just coping image?
The steps to reproduce aren’t quite what I’m actually doing - in my case I have a URL, but I haven’t opened it, so being able to open it directly in Acorn is nice because it saves me from having to open a browser, paste in the URL, load the image, then copy it. It is just a bit of a time saver - if I have an image in a browser I want to use I do just copy the image itself.
got it.. using the steps you suggested works for me to open the image (never done that before)
Weird that it is possible, but one gets the error??! and the svg part kind of especially odd
Interesting, I confirm this is happening for me too with Acorn 8.6.1, and it’s regardless of whether “Use PDF import window with New from Clipboard” is ticked or not in Settings/Fussy Stuff. (I’d wondered if it was related.)
I must have introduced a regression for this a while back - thanks for letting me know about it. It’s now fixed for the next release, as well as in the latest builds which you can grab from here: https://flyingmeat.com/download/latest/
Acorn added the ability to download and open an image from a URL a looong time ago. It’s kind of handy sometimes!
Thanks for the quick fix, I confirmed it is working properly again.
