I have an image I want to export as a circle … it is to be used as a favicon for a website. I don’t seem to find a way to export on the circle portion of my image … the rest is transparent, but when exporting the whole square insists of including the non-circle portion of the image. By default that “other unwanted part” is exported as white.
I hope I am describing this well. I realize this is likely something very simple to do, but I’m not seeing the solution.

You’ll need to make sure to save your image in a format that uses transparency. A good first choice is probably PNG. Other formats like HEIC and TIFF also support transparency (also known as an “alpha channel”), but PNG is supported by all browsers these days.

That helps a bit as I was exporting to JPG originally. Below is a screenshot of an export. It’s to create a favicon (sp??). Outside the circle image all is supposed to be blank, but when exported to PNG or JPG that blank area is white. I just want to export the circle content. I know I must be missing something very simple but …
How are you verifying that it’s white with the PNG? If you open the exported image in Acorn, does it show the checkerboard background?
It looks like you’re doing everything right with (obviously JPEG is going to be the wrong format if you want transparency).
My bad. The exported image on my desktop looks like it has “white parts” to make up a square. However, when I open in Acorn that white area IS all transparent. More importantly, when I replace my old favicon with this new one that includes transparency I no longer get the extra annoying white area in the favicon. I was just fooled by my eyes, and the simple change from JPG to PNG solved it all.
