Is there an eyedropper where I can pick up color from anywhere on the screen?

Yes- the shortcut key control-c will do it, or you can click on the magnifying glass at the bottom of the tool inspector.

The first time this is used, MacOS will as if you want to give Acorn permission to “record the screen”. If you say yes, then it’ll do what you’re after. If not, then you’ll only be able to sample from Acorn’s windows and the desktop picture. You can open up System Preferences ▸ Security and Privacy ▸ Privacy Tab ▸ Screen Recording, and then enable Acorn from there if you change your mind later on.
