Not snapping to guides, but snapping the guides themselves into place… at the moment, they move in increments of 0.01 of a centimetre (that’s one tenth of a millimetre), which makes placing guides accurately a real chore. This last Sunday, the ability to snap guides to 0.1 centimetre (1 millimetre) increments would have saved a lot of frustration. I tried setting the ‘Grid Snap’ parameter under Guides setting to 100, 200 pixels, but it didn’t make any difference.
Related to this, would it be possible to have millimetres as a default measurement in addition to centimetres? I ask because, In The Rest of the World, in Architecture and Design at leat, we work exclusively in millimetres. Why? because there’s no decimal point to get in the wrong place. I just tried to set an A3 canvas (420 x 297mm) and got:
I’ll see if I can make this better in the future. Would being able to manually type the location of the ruler help?
I’ll see what I can do. There’s some changes coming up in the next big release related to this, and millimeters isn’t there, but it should be easier to do now because of the changes.
Thanks, Gus – numerically setting a value for a guide would also be useful , as would the ability to always open documents with Rulers: hmmm… templates, maybe…?
