Admittedly it’s early days yet but web support for AVIF is looking increasingly likely as it seems to have broad vendor involvement. So, I guess it’s only a matter of time before someone asks … might Retrobatch also be able to convert to AVIF in future?
There are not many tools out there yet so it could be a selling point.
Could be covered by using:
I was going to suggest something along the lines of what @gingerbeardman points out. You can always call shell scripts which will do the conversions for you. At some point when AVIF gets a bit more available I guess, I can include it in Retrobatch.
Thanks both of you for the pointer. I’ll investigate that.
I am here to show support for native AVIF export. It’s now widely supported in web browsers and would be useful for workflows that prepare images for the web.
I would not know how to do that with libheif, by the way. It’s the reason I use Retrobatch and not the command line. Here is an image of the workflow, for anyone interested (I can’t yet upload files in this forum).
Sidenote: I am unable to scroll the properties panel (see second image of workflow).
I’ll get that fixed! Thanks for letting me know about it.
