Hi, first post here and probably a bit off topic but I’m wondering what others are using to organise their images? I’ve tried pretty much every DAM out there and they all seem to fall short in one way or another. I’ve tried Lightroom (which is great apart from their pricing model), ACDSee, Darktable etc and I’m currently using Photo Supreme. For years there was talk on the Affinity forum that they were developing a ‘Lightroom killer’ but it never came to anything and now of course they’ve been acquired by Canva so it may or may not happen. Anyway, I’d be really interested to hear what others are using to catalogue their images.
Personally, I use the Photos app from Apple. I used Pixave for a while, but in general, if it’s not shot via the iPhone, I’ll just organize things in Finder folders.

I use Photos combined with Photomator, which I’ve come to like quite a lot. It’s the closest thing to a Lightroom killer I’ve seen, which could be why Apple bought it. It handles your photos library and external photos separately, which took a moment to get used to, but works.
Most annoying thing for me is you can’t right click and open with Acorn (I must make a workflow for that).
Pixelmator pro doesn’t do it for me, alas.
You might want to check out Eagle app to manage your assets:
Hi Gododdin! I just use the Finder… but my needs are modest.
Thanks for all the responses. I’ve been further exploring Darktable and it’s very good indeed so I’ve decided to go with that. I’m only just getting into it but so far I can’t recommend it highly enough. And of course it’s free and open source.
