Add a single transparent pixel to images to prevent social media sites from using compression?

Under ‘Technical specs’ I read: " * Add a single transparent pixel to images to prevent social media sites from using compression"

What is this madness? Does that really work? And how would I do that? Sounds awesome!

I know Twitter used to do this. If you uploaded a PNG without any transparent pixels, it would convert it to a JPEG file which would introduce compression artifacts. However, if you added a single transparent pixel, then it would keep the format as PNG.

I haven’t looked at it in a while, so they might have changed it - but that was the theory behind it.

Crazy - I’ll have to try it. Mostly need IG to stop compressing videos and images so much. It’s awful!
