I’d like to do some color correction on only a selection within an image. Is there a way to do that? I tried selecting the section I want to correct, but when I try to edit, it affects the entire image . . . not just the selection. The image has only one layer.

What are you using to do the color correction? If you’re using filters, then it should be using the selection. But it’s possible to turn it off with the filter palette, using the cog button in the bottom of the window:
Make sure it’s set to “Blend With Canvas Selection”
