Does anyone have any general advice on this, including which to use, settings, etc. I used to use a high pass filter in another app where I could easily judge the edge effect. Not so confident what I have done in Acorn using unsharp / luminance is going to give the right amount / type of sharpening.
Can you point to specifically which high pass filter you’re using, and what app? I might be able to suggest something for Acorn, and if not then I can add it to the list of filters to add.
Just whatever high pass filter was there in Affinity Photo. I ditched that when they sold out to Canva!
I remember I had to duplicate the layer I was sharpening and i got a grey image whereby increasing the filter amount showed how the edges would be sharpened, if that helps.
This filter was pretty simple to implement, so I’ve done that for the next release, as well as in the latest builds, which you can find from here: https://flyingmeat.com/download/latest/
From the release notes:
• A new High Pass filter, which keeps the edge details of your image and flattens everything else to gray. Useful for sharpening when blended with the original using Overlay.
