Is there a way to clone in a horizontal or vertical direction from the clone source? What I would love is something like the gradient tool where you hold down the shift key while dragging.
I’ve tried everything I can think of like grids and selections but I can only seem to go in a direction free hand, which is far from accurate.

You can click down with the clone tool, then press the shift key, and move a direction. It will then move in either a vertical or horizontal direction for you.
That will be helpful but that allows you to draw a strait line “after” you select a clone source. What I need is a strait direction"from" the clone source. It’s hard to explain without a video, I’ll see if I can make one up.
